This chart shows the worst 30 cities by child gender ratio. None of them reach the threshold of 952; the closest city, Amritsar, is 128 women away. Mahesana, in the state of Gujarat, has the lowest ratio of the top 500 cities, with a rate of 762 women per 1000 men. From the fact that many of these cities are large ones, we arrive at the idea that the problem of female infanticide does not seem confined to smaller villages, contrary to common perception. In fact, relatively large urban areas also have this problem, including Amritsar and Agra.
