Out of the top 500 cities in India, these 30 cities have the highest overall gender ratios. This means that, relative to other Indian cities, they have the most girls compared to boys. A combination of factors has led to the fact that, in all likelihood, these cities do not suffer from the problem of female infanticide. Bally, a city in the state of West Bengal, has a ratio of 1185, the best in all of India. Tiruvottiyur, a city in Tamil Nadu, has a ratio of 970; even though it is the thirtieth city on the top 30 cities chart, its ratio still indicates that the problem of female infanticide is not highly prevalent within its borders.
